About The Role

A casual Counsellor role at Calvary Riverina Hospital- Drug and Alcohol Centre, Wagga Wagga. The successful applicant will be available for allocation of clients when client demand is in excess to staffing and annual leave coverage. You will provide generalist counselling services to clients in the residential program.

Your main duties will include:

Provide evidence informed services including psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, counselling and other relevant and approved modalities to clientsProvide interventions to motivate clients toward change, including harm minimisation and relapse prevention strategiesIdentify, respond and escalate, if required, significant risk factors or deterioration in client’s condition and develop and implement an appropriate management planDevelop caring, supportive and professional relationships with clients and their families/carers

About You

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Psychology, Social Work, Counselling) and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or Registration with the Australian Counselling AssociationHighly developed knowledge and application of alcohol and other drugs theoretical frameworks, national guidelines and evidence based therapeutic interventionsA sound understanding of the professional, ethical and legal requirements that underpin the treatment and clinical management of alcohol and other drug problemsDemonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise workload and deliver care with integrity and accountability
