Practice Nurse (RN or EN) - Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Full-time or Part-time | Cairns North | Private Practice
Dr Marcia Mickelburgh is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon providing bespoke patient care in an elegant and professional setting in beautiful Far North Queensland. We are seeking a warm, capable, and highly organised Practice Nurse (RN or EN) to join our team in Cairns North.
We are open to either:

Full-time (ideal for a nurse with less experience who is enthusiastic, highly motivated, and keen to learn private practice and surgical consulting workflows), or
-
Part-time (ideal for a more experienced nurse who can work confidently and independently).
About the Role
As our Practice Nurse, you will support patient care across consultations, procedures, and post-operative follow-up. You will contribute to a calm, discreet, and high-standard patient experience from first contact through to recovery.
Key Responsibilities

Support clinical consultations and procedural sessions

Prepare patients, take observations, and assist with clinical procedures

Deliver pre-operative and post-operative nursing care, including wound care and dressing management

Maintain infection control standards, including cleaning and room readiness

Perform and/or support sterilisation workflows and maintain related documentation
-
Assist with stock management including ordering, expiry checking, and clinical supplies
-
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records, including use of Genie (practice management software)

Provide a professional, reassuring, and discreet patient experience
Essential Criteria
-
Nursing qualification as either Registered Nurse (RN) or Enrolled Nurse (EN)
-
Current AHPRA registration
-
Previous experience as a Practice Nurse (some practice nursing experience required)

Demonstrated knowledge of sterilisation processes and infection control standards

Working knowledge of Genie (or the ability to become proficient quickly)

Strong understanding of clinical and surgical compliance
-
High attention to detail and commitment to patient safety

Excellent communication skills with professionalism and discretion

Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise competing tasks

Strong computer literacy
-
Friendly, reliable, proactive, and solutions-oriented
Desirable (Preferred, Not Essential)

Experience in plastic surgery / reconstructive surgery, theatre, day surgery, wound care, or post-operative care

Experience supporting a premium private practice patient journey
