SCHADS Level 6 | $110,455 per annum + SuperFull‑time (Fixed‑term) | Permanent PositionRockhampton, QLD - BasedYour new companyWe are seeking an experienced Foster and Kinship Care Coordinator to lead the delivery of foster, kinship, and intensive care programs supporting children and young people in out‑of‑home care across Central Queensland.
This role provides leadership to a dedicated team and plays a key part in ensuring safe, high‑quality placements, strong carer support, and full compliance with legislative and contractual requirements.
Your new role
Reporting to the Foster Care Manager, you will manage day‑to‑day operations of the foster and kinship care programs while providing practice leadership and guidance to staff. You will work closely with carers, staff, and external stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.
Key responsibilities
Lead and support a team delivering foster, kinship, and intensive care servicesOversee carer recruitment, assessment, training, monitoring, and supportEnsure high‑quality placements that meet all licensing, safety, and care standardsParticipate in a rotating on‑call roster to support carersBuild and maintain strong relationships with government and community stakeholdersProvide practice guidance informed by trauma, attachment, grief, loss, and child developmentEnsure staff understand service agreements, outcomes, and program requirementsManage rostering, workloads, and staffing within program budgetsMaintain accurate program data, reporting, and financial oversightEnsure all contractual, legislative, and compliance obligations are metPromote continuous improvement, quality practice, and a safe work environment
What you'll need to succeedYou are a motivated and capable leader with experience in child protection or out‑of‑home care services. You bring strong people leadership skills, sound judgement, and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high service standards.
Essential requirements
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Behavioural Science, Psychology, or a related disciplineMinimum 3 years' experience leading a team in child protection or out‑of‑home care servicesStrong knowledge of child protection legislation and practice frameworksAbility to guide staff to deliver quality services to children and young people who have experienced harm or traumaStrong written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated ability to manage staff, resources, and program budgetsCurrent Queensland Open Driver's Licence and ability to travel as required
