At Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD), our Emergency Department Mental Health Team (ED MHT) is committed to providing trusted, compassionate care at critical moments. We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) who values teamwork, person-centred practice, and making a meaningful difference in the care and outcomes of people presenting in crisis.
About the Opportunity
The ED MHT RN will provide clinical consultation and undertake Mental Health Assessments for clients presenting to the Emergency Department (ED) requiring mental health assistance. The ED MHT RN will work as part of a broader clinical team with the ED MHT Clinical Nurse Consultants (CNC), ED MHT Clinical Nurse Specialist (Grade 2) and Psychiatric Registrars. The role will require collaboration with Emergency Department clinicians, PACER service, the Acute Care Team, Mental Health Inpatient Units and other community mental health teams.Â
In this role you will:

Provide high-quality, consumer-centred mental health nursing care.

Complete timely and thorough mental health assessments for people presenting with acute distress.

Develop and implement clear care plans and risk management strategies in collaboration with consumers and the multidisciplinary team.

Liaise effectively with emergency department staff, community services, and inpatient teams to support safe and appropriate care pathways.

Maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times.

Communicate clearly and compassionately with consumers, families, and colleagues.

About You
We are looking for someone who has:
-
Current authority to practice from AHPRA as a Registered Nurse who has extensive full time equivalent post registration mental health experience and in addition who has approved post registration qualifications relevant to mental health nursing or is working towards same.

Extensive clinical experience in undertaking acute mental health assessments.

Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team

Commitment to working 24/7 rotating roster.
