About the Role

We are urgently hiring Support Worker positions available for Supported Independent Living and community Access around Darwin and Palmerston regions. 

Main Duties / Responsibilities:

Duties will vary according to the participant's support plan but may include:

  • Assisting people to perform important daily activities including home support

  • Facilitating daily personal hygiene and dressing tasks

  • Implementing de-escalation techniques for preventing and defusing behaviours of concern 

  • Assisting, supporting, and chaperoning outside the home environment which may include transportation of your client.

  • Assisting with medication compliance which will include dispensation of prescription medication.

  • implementing strategies for preventing and managing difficult behaviours

  • Implementing positive approaches, clear, inclusive, and respectful communication.

About You

Essential:

  • Qualifications / experience in Disability, Individual Support, Personal Care, Social Work or other relevant qualification

  • Experience in a residential care and/or community access setting

  • Completion of NDIS mandatory orientation module

  • Knowledge of trauma and its effects on the development and behaviours of people

  • Strong computer literacy including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data management.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical work practices.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the NDIS, disability, or community services sector.

  • Experience supporting people with complex mental health conditions where behaviours of concern are common

Other Requirements

  • Drivers Licence

  • Proof of Australian working rights/ Australian Citizenship

  • First aid certificate

  • Qualifications relevant to your role

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check online

  • Current police check

  • Completed NDIS worker orientation Module

  • Infection prevention and control for COVID-19
