Polaris Engineering delivers high-quality engineering and construction solutions, specialising in heavy fabrication and surface treatment services including structural steel, plate work, pipework and rotatable maintenance services on mechanical equipment and associated steelwork. Our clients include major companies in the industrial, mining resources, and construction sectors. Due to Company growth, we are looking for an experienced Assistant Production Manager to join our team at our Henderson facility. This is a full-time position with an immediate start. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute fabrication schedules aligned with production requirements 

  • Collaborate with Project & QA Managers to meet specific project requirements and timelines

  • Work with the workshop supervisors to ensure production schedules are met and allocate tasks effectively

  • Drive continuous improvement of processes to maximize productivity and efficiency 

  • Communicate with client inspectors and representatives in relation to the production progress and technical requirements to support Project Managers in client liaison, negotiation and maintenance of client relationships

  • Assist the Senior Production Manager with the receipt and storage of goods inwards for fabrication including steel and workshop consumables

  • Maintain compliance with Project QA requirements including third-party testing and inspection, company production processes, and the ISO9001 Quality Management System

  • Monitor compliance with safe work practices, policies and procedures, and take corrective and preventive actions to maintain a safe working environment

Skills & Experience

  • Sound understanding of AS/NZS ISO 9001 Quality Assurance Systems 

  • Strong Knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, codes of practice and industry best practices, including risk identification, management and control, and incident investigation processes

  • Advanced knowledge of engineering, fabrication, welding, construction and mechanical principles, techniques and procedures (welding process including MIG, TIG, stick electrode)

  • Experience in scheduling, resource allocation, and lean management principles

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, models, standards and specifications

  • Proficient in cost tracking, budgeting, and financial data analysis 

  • Exceptional critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills 

  • High level of attention to detail and ability to manage complex tasks effectively

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel

  • Relevant certifications (Current Manual Driver’s Licence, LF, WP, Heavy Fabrication/welding, Safe Work at Heights)
