Join our team as a Primary Teacher at St Peter's School, Halifax.

We’re looking for a passionate and dedicated Primary Teacher with tertiary qualifications and registration (or eligibility) with the Queensland College of Teachers. This role is a part- time, permanent for 12 hours per week.

You’ll join a supportive team of committed teachers who work together in partnership with the parent community to create the best possible learning experience for every student. Your understanding of contemporary teaching practices, and your ability to adapt and support a diverse range of learners, will help every child feel included, valued, and confident.

In your classroom, you’ll spark curiosity and a love of learning by designing engaging lessons, setting clear expectations, and continually reflecting on your practice to keep improving. You’ll use a range of assessment tools to understand each student’s progress, celebrate their growth, and give meaningful feedback that helps them thrive.

Guided by Catholic values, you’ll embrace the school’s mission, prioritise student safety and wellbeing, and help create a welcoming, supportive environment where every learner feels they belong.

Nestled between lush cane fields and the sparkling waters of the Hinchinbrook Channel, Halifax offers a relaxed seaside lifestyle with a strong sense of community. Just minutes from Ingham and a short drive north of Townsville, this welcoming town combines small‑community warmth with easy access to tropical adventures.

With fishing, boating, and island exploring right on your doorstep, plus rich cultural heritage and a laid‑back pace of life, Halifax is the perfect place to live and work while enjoying the natural beauty of North Queensland.

Townsville Catholic Education has standards of conduct for workers to maintain a safe and healthy environment for children. Our commitment to these standards requires that we conduct working with children checks and background referencing for all staff. The organisation is fully committed to child safety and has a zero tolerance to abuse of children or adults-at-risk.
