The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for two Casual Biosecurity Officers to be
part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary
Industries and Regions.

The Biosecurity Officer is responsible for coordinating and
undertaking field-based biosecurity surveillance, conducting
investigations relating potential breaches and inspection duties at
entry points to Kangaroo Island.

The primary purpose of the role is to provide biosecurity
inspection activities and engagement with travellers to Kangaroo
Island in accordance with the Landscape South Australia Act 2019,
Livestock Act 1997 and Plant Health Act 2009.

The role contributes delivering the agency’s priorities
including assisting the protection of Kangaroo Island primary
industries particularly as they recover from the recent devastating
bushfires. The role contributes to delivering biosecurity
inspection activities to manage risks to Kangaroo Island posed by
animal and plant pests and diseases.

Special Conditions

  • Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily
    complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an
    offer of employment.

Requirements

Desirable

  • A tertiary qualification in Science, Agricultural Science,
    Biology, or a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in risk management or the delivery of
    biosecurity inspection services.

Remuneration

OPS4 - $48.92 min - $51.28 max per hour, plus superannuation
