About the role

We are seeking a qualified Steel & Aluminium Fabricator/Welder, or a 4th year apprentice to join our team at Ground Support Systems (Aust) in Ormeau, QLD. This is a full-time role involving the fabrication of new equipment, as well as the repair and maintenance of our existing steel and aluminium hire fleet. You will play a key role in ensuring our equipment meets the highest quality standards, utilising your welding and fabrication skills and your ability to interpret technical drawings.

What you'll be doing

1. Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications

2. Perform precision welding of aluminium components using MIG, TIG, and other welding techniques

3. Fabricate, repair, and finish aluminium and steel items to the highest standards

4. Operate various metalworking equipment, such as saws, grinders, etc.

5. Ensure all work is completed in a safe, efficient, and timely manner

6. Collaborate with the team to identify and implement process improvements.

7. Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience as a Steel & Aluminium Fabricator Welder, with a minimum of 3 years in a similar role

2. Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and other welding techniques, with the ability to produce high-quality welds

3. Strong understanding of aluminium fabrication processes and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings

4. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship

5. The ability to work in a team-oriented environment

6. A valid driver's licence and own transportation
