Hinterland Toyota Nerang is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Automotive Technician for a highly valued, long-term role within our Service Department.

This role will suit a technician who enjoys complex diagnostics, takes pride in accurate fault-finding, and wants to be recognised as a technical leader within the workshop. We are looking to invest in someone for the long haul, with the opportunity to broaden their role over time by relieving the Technical Advisor when required.

This is not a stepping-stone role or a short-term fix. It is a key position within a busy dealership environment, suited to someone who values stability, consistency, and doing the job properly.

As part of the Hinterland Motors Group, you will be joining a long-established, award-winning dealership that has served the Gold Coast and Scenic Rim regions for over 40 years. Our customer-first approach is underpinned by high workshop standards and work done right the first time.

About the role:

Reporting to the Service Manager, you will play a lead role in advanced diagnostics, technical support, and quality control across the workshop, while remaining hands-on in the trade.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Carrying out advanced diagnostics and complex fault-finding

  • Accurately identifying, reporting, and repairing service, repair, and warranty concerns

  • Performing road testing and final quality control checks

  • Supporting workflow management and forward planning of work in progress

  • Providing technical support to technicians and service advisors

  • Relieving the Technical Advisor when required, following appropriate training and support

  • Completing services and repairs to manufacturer and dealership standards

  • Maintaining a safe, organised workshop environment and correct use of tools and equipment

  • Contributing positively to team culture and overall customer experience

What skills will you bring:

  • Fully qualified Motor Mechanic with Australian trade qualifications

  • Proven diagnostic and fault-finding capability

  • Toyota experience is highly regarded but not essential

  • Experience in a busy dealership or large workshop environment

  • Able to work autonomously while supporting the wider team

  • Organised, disciplined, and reliable in approach to work

  • Comfortable working under pressure while maintaining quality standards

  • Clear communication skills and professional attitude

  • Current manual driver’s licence

What we offer:

  • Attractive salary package with performance-based bonus

  • Tool allowance

  • Flexible working arrangements for the right candidate

  • Work-Life Balance with weekends and public holidays off

  • Ongoing Toyota technical training and development

  • Exposure to workshop leadership through structured relief opportunities

  • Workshop BBQs and team recognition initiatives

  • Access to Toyota’s Employee Assistance Program, providing confidential counselling and support, as well as wellbeing, nutrition and financial advice services

  • Long-term career opportunities across the Hinterland Toyota Group

If you are a senior technician looking for a stable, respected role with room to grow without stepping away from the tools, we encourage you to apply.

All applications will be treated confidentially. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

We are an equal opportunity employer, and we encourage and celebrate diversity in our workplace.
