Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

Job description:
Your Impact
Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, you'll play a vital role in keeping Newmont Tanami's mobile fleet operating safely and reliably. You'll be responsible for the servicing, repair and maintenance of tyres across mobile and ancillary equipment, supporting equipment availability, safety and operational performance in a demanding mining environment.
Profile description:
As part of our team, you will:
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs and tyre change-outs on mobile equipment
- Conduct inspections, adjustments and field repairs to underground and surface equipment
- Maintain accurate records, including work completed, parts usage and inspections
- Ensure all jacking equipment and tooling is maintained in a safe, serviceable condition
- Source and requisition parts and inventory using SAP and site systems
- Liaise with maintenance, warehouse and operations teams to support equipment readiness
- Maintain high housekeeping standards in workshop and work areas
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections and incident investigations
- Support on-the-job training and mentoring of trades, apprentices and trainees
- Contribute to continuous improvement and safe work practices across the workshop
Prerequisites for your success in this role
- Minimum 1 year experience in tyre fitting (mining or heavy industry preferred)
- Relevant trade qualification -
- Certificate II or III in Automotive Tyre Servicing Technology AUR21920
- Demonstrated tyre fitting experience in mining or heavy industry
- Current Forklift licence - (Essential)
- Current Australian drivers licence
- Experience maintaining underground or heavy mining equipment
- Strong commitment to safety, quality and procedural compliance
- Good communication, organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and contribute positively within a team
- Mask fit ready
- Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills, an advanced standard of safety, and a strong work ethic.
