Tropic Petroleum is seeking the services of a suitably qualified Operations Manager on a Full-time basis to join their team based at our Townsville Depot. _____________________________________________________________________________________ 

About the Role:

Driven by our company’s significant growth and expansion, we are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager who enjoys the challenges of a fast-growing business. Overseeing the daily running operations of a depot, driver’s, storeman and a fleet of heavy vehicles in various combinations delivering dangerous goods and lubricants across North and Western Queensland.

Whilst working independently and with staff & drivers on a daily basis, you will oversee planning and schedule deliveries across our networks. You will communicate with a wide range of stakeholders to understand the requirements of customers and the capability of your drivers. The aim being to build knowledge to deliver a plan for each shift that drives the efficient utilisation of our fleet and delivery of product to customers.

40-45 hour weeks. Monday to Friday roster & every second Saturday 7-12. Hours are open for discussion/ shift options available.

Salary

Competitive Annual Salary plus super- negotiable and dependant on experience

Or hourly rate can be negotiated.

Potential roster:

Monday to Friday: 5:00AM - 2:00PM, with every second Saturday from 7:00AM - 12:00PM.

Monday to Friday: 8:00AM - 5:00PM, with every second Saturday from 7:00AM - 12:00PM.

Rotating fortnight rosters

Tasks & responsibilities:

  • Overseeing vehicle scheduling, load Planning and route optimisation while complying with NHVAS and Dangerous Goods legislation.

  • Daily management/supervision of staff.

  • Assist with planning and organisation of scheduled maintenance servicing.

  • Monitoring and review of drivers, deliveries, orders, safety, servicing & maintenance.

  • New staff & contractor’s onsite inductions.

  • Reporting incidents, issues immediately.

  • General reporting – e.g. orders delivered, planned, vehicle reports.

  • Receiving Customer orders.

  • Conducting fuel & lubricant sales.

Skills & Experience 

  • Must have experience in transport industry - fuel experience would be highly regarded.

  • Experience in Scheduling, Transport Logistics or similar role

  • Knowledge Petroleum industry and products (desirable).

  • Maintain a current licence for a minimum C Class motor vehicle Drives licence.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Literacy & numeracy, including computer and technology literate and/or able to and willing to learn.

  • Customer care and relationship builder.

  • Problem solving including staff management, scheduling, product procurement; vehicles.

  • Understand and implement instructions given with responsibility and accountability.

Qualifications:

  • Fatigue Management - TLIF0005/2010A/1007C Apply a fatigue risk management system

  • Supervisor Fatigue Management - TLIF3063 Administer the Implementation of Fatigue Management Strategies or TLIF 0006 Administer a Fatigue Risk Management System.

  • Dangerous Goods licence.

  • Heavy Vehicle Licence, HC.

  • SLP Passport.

To be successful in this role you will be customer focused and have a knowledge and understanding of fleet operations and logistics management. You will have good communication skills and be comfortable dealing with internal and external customers.

Knowledge of Road Transport Logistics (Dangerous Goods, Chain of Responsibility & Fatigue Laws) would be an advantage.
