ABOUT THE ROLE:

As part of the Tony White Group, Illawarra Toyota is seeking an experienced and driven Paint Shop Manager to lead our internal paint and refinishing operations. This is a key leadership role within our dealership, responsible for quality, efficiency, and team performance in a fast-paced, high-volume automotive environment.

This is a working leadership position. You will manage the paint room day-to-day while remaining actively involved in the preparation and refinishing process. Reporting to senior management, you will take ownership of paint room operations, ensuring all internal vehicle refinishing is completed to the highest standards, on time, and within budget.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and lead the paint room team, including painters and preppers

  • Oversee workflow, job allocation, and daily production targets

  • Ensure high-quality paint and refinishing standards are consistently met

  • Maintain safe work practices and compliance with WHS and environmental requirements

  • Liaise with service, recon, and sales departments to meet vehicle delivery deadlines

  • Control costs including paint materials, consumables, and labour efficiency

  • Maintain paint booth, equipment, and facilities in good working order

  • Train, develop, and motivate team members to achieve best performance

ABOUT YOU:

  • Proven experience as a Paint Room Manager, Leading Hand, or Senior Automotive Painter

  • Strong leadership and people management skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

  • Ability to manage deadlines in a high-volume environment

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

  • Sound understanding of WHS and environmental standards

  • Automotive dealership experience highly regarded
