We are currently seeking expressions of interest for a qualified, highly motivated and enthusiastic Power Station Operator (Electrical and Instrumentation) to join our growing Great Energy team. 12 month fixed term full-time position based on 2/2 FIFO role with the possibility of extension.

About the role;

Reporting to the power station supervisor the roles of the Power Station operator are but not limited to -

  • Operate the power station and ensure electrical energy supply is maintained to the customers critical services and plant systems.

  • Operate the power station and maintain high thermal efficiency whilst still operating in such a way that does not introduce loss of supply risks to the customers critical services and plant systems.

  • Complete daily readings, data entry, data analysis and reports.

  • Adhere to all KPI’s set by the customer and Great Energy.

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on associated power station plant & equipment.

  • Identify, recommend and implement improvements to safety and maintenance systems and procedures.

  • Investigate, research, troubleshoot and recommend solutions for operational and maintenance problems

  • Follow Great Energy’s and the customers safety and work management systems

  • Adhere to all of Great Energy’s and the customers policies & procedures

To be successful in this role you must have previous experience in;

  • 5+ years’ experience in power station O&M

  • Demonstrated experience in electrical and instrumentation fault finding and maintenance activities

  • Demonstrated experience working with Power Generation Systems & Equipment;

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships;

  • Proven time management skills to effectively manage and deliver multiple priorities;

  • Working in remote locations on a variety of rosters

  • Experience with SAP maintenance management system

  • Quality assurance

  • Understanding contract obligations and act in accordance with contract

  • Permit to work systems

  • Hazard Identification, risk assessments, JSA’s, Take 5’s & associated paperwork.

  • Experience with maintaining Gas and steam turbines and related systems is desirable

Relevant Qualifications

  • Queensland Electrical Fitter Electrical Mechanic Licence

  • Certificate III in Instrumentation & Control

  • Current unrestricted C Class Drivers Licence

  • Desirable - High Risk Work Licence

    • LF Forklift Truck

    • WP Boom Elevated Work Platform

    • BA Advanced Boiler Operation

    • TO Turbine Operation

  • Desirable – EEHA – Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas

  • Desirable – High Voltage Switching
