An opportunity has presented itself for a Wagon Maintenance Coordinator to join our team in Newcastle, NSW.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role is responsible for the coordination, planning and leadership of Maintainers on shift to ensure wagon maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with PN’s technical standards and procedures.

This is a rotating roster position covering days and weekends, supporting the delivery of scheduled maintenance, inspections, out‑of‑course repairs and urgent recovery tasks across the rail network. Your commitment to strong safety practices, effective teamwork and positive stakeholder engagement will be essential.

What You’ll Do

Ensure safe and efficient day‑to‑day coordination of wagon maintenance activities.Coordinate task allocation and set work priorities for Maintainers on each shiftEnsure all wagon maintenance is completed in line with PN’s technical standards, practices and proceduresMaximise resource utilisation to achieve wagon availability and reliability targetsPrepare maintenance documentation and assist with planning for modification programsLiaise with internal stakeholders for the timely movement, placement and clearing of wagonsSupport incident response activities and ensure contractor compliance where required

What You’ll Bring

A strong commitment to safety, a collaborative mindset and the ability to lead operational activity across a busy maintenance environment.A relevant trade background or extensive rail/maintenance experienceKnowledge of rolling stock technical requirements and maintenance practicesStrong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work autonomously and within a teamDemonstrated ability to use computerised maintenance or asset management systemsA solid commitment to safety and a customer‑focused approachC Class Driver’s Licence (essential)Forklift and HR licences desirable
