Westest Qld Pty Ltd is now looking to recruit a Geologist to join our dedicated and professional service team on a full time and permanent basis.
Responsibility:
Study the composition, structure and other physical attributes of the earth, locate and advise on the extraction of minerals, petroleum and ground water, and detect, monitor and forecast seismic, magnetic, electrical, thermal and oceanographic activity.
Duties:
- Studying the physical attributes of Earth's surface and subsurface, as well as other planetary bodies.
- Analysing chemical and physical processes involved in Earth's evolution.
- Collecting and analysing Earth or planetary materials, focusing on their composition, structure, and physical properties.
- Assessing reservoirs and deposits of resources like oil, gas, or minerals to estimate volumes and extraction potential.
- Estimating the formation, age, and conditions of rocks, fossils, and other geological materials.
- Developing insights into the evolution of Earth and other planetary bodies and their potential impact on humanity.
- Monitoring and studying the effects of anthropogenic processes, including resource extraction, on Earth or other planetary bodies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or a related field, or higher.
- At least five years of relevant experience.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Experience:
- At least five years of experience in geological fieldwork, research, or a related area is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in conducting geological surveys and interpreting complex data.
- Familiarity with geological software, modeling tools, and field equipment.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams on large-scale projects, such as mining, construction, or environmental assessments.
- Previous experience in preparing detailed reports, maps, and presentations for various stakeholders.
Skills and Attributes:
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Proficiency in using geological software and tools for data analysis and modeling.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and reporting.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration and reporting.
- Ability to work in diverse environments, including remote and potentially hazardous locations.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and their application to geological projects.
