With a strong reputation for safety, quality, and delivery, we are seeking an experienced QC & Weld Inspector to support a major MSCL pipeline project.
The Role
This site-based role is responsible for field weld inspection and day-to-day management of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) to ensure all welding activities meet project specifications, Australian Standards, and client requirements.
You will play a critical role in quality assurance, working closely with supervisors, NDT providers, and client representatives to ensure full compliance and traceability from fit-up through to final close-out.

Key Responsibilities
ITP & Quality Control
-
Maintain current approved documentation including ITPs, WPS, weld maps/isometrics, NDT and repair procedures, and QA forms
-
Manage and control hold and witness points, ensuring no progression without required sign-off

Coordinate client and third-party inspections
-
Plan inspections with supervisors using a 24–72 hour look-ahead
Weld Inspection (Field-Based)
Before Welding
-
Verify correct WPS, joint configuration, and welder qualifications
-
Confirm material traceability and weld numbering
-
Inspect fit-up, bevel condition, cleanliness, environmental controls, and coating/lining cut-back
-
Check correct consumables and handling/storage requirements
Post-Weld Visual Inspection (VT)
-
Inspect weld profile, size, reinforcement, undercut, overlap, and surface defects

Confirm weld identification and release or reject for NDT
NDT Coordination & Repairs
-
Raise and manage NDT requests per ITP requirements
-
Review NDT reports and update weld registers
-
Raise NCRs where required
-
Manage weld repairs using approved procedures, including re-inspection and re-NDT
Records, NCRs & Close-Out
-
Maintain a live weld register including weld ID, welder ID, WPS, VT/NDT status, repairs, and close-out

Raise and manage NCRs relating to WPS breaches, failed NDT, unqualified welding, traceability gaps, or uncontrolled repairs

Compile weld QA packs for handover, including registers, VT checklists, NDT and repair records, and welder qualifications

Verify pre-bury sign-off and readiness for MSCL coating/lining reinstatement
Requirements

CSWIP 3.1 (or equivalent) – mandatory
-
Proven experience as a Site QC / Weld Inspector on pipeline or linear infrastructure projects

Strong working knowledge of AS4041 / AS4037
-
Experience managing ITPs, weld registers, NCRs, and QA documentation

Ability to work independently in a site-based, rostered environment

Strong attention to detail and communication skills
