Are you passionate about the environment, community, and creating lasting change on the land?
Do you thrive in a hands-on role that blends on-ground conservation with project delivery, partnerships and purpose?

Pioneer Catchment Landcare (PCL) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Project Officer to join its growing team and help deliver high-impact environmental and community projects across the reef catchment and central highlands.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a respected, long-standing Landcare organisation delivering meaningful outcomes for local landscapes, waterways, wildlife and communities.

About Pioneer Catchment Landcare

PCL is a locally based, not-for-profit environmental organisation that has been working in the Mackay region for over 30 years. PCL delivers a wide range of projects including:

  • Revegetation and habitat restoration
  • Weed and pest management
  • Waterway and wetland rehabilitation
  • Citizen science and community engagement programs
  • Industry and government environmental services
  • School and Junior Landcare programs

PCL works closely with landholders, councils, industry, Traditional Owner groups, community organisations and volunteers to create real, measurable environmental outcomes.

About the Role - Project Officer

The Project Officer plays a key role in supporting the delivery of PCL’s environmental, community and industry projects. This is a dynamic, hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working both in the field and in the office.

The role includes project coordination, on-ground delivery, stakeholder engagement, reporting and administration support.

No two days are the same - one day may involve planting trees along a creek line, the next running a community planting day, meeting with project partners or preparing project reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, coordinating and delivering environmental projects
  • Support on-ground works including revegetation, fauna habitat conservation, landscape assessments and monitoring, invasive species control and maintenance
  • Liaise with landholders, councils, industry partners and community groups
  • Coordinate volunteers and community engagement activities
  • Assist with project reporting, data collection and monitoring
  • Support grant and contract project administration
  • Contribute to a positive, safety-focused team culture

About You

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Passionate about the environment and community
  • Practical, reliable and solutions-focused
  • Comfortable working outdoors in regional conditions
  • Well organised with strong communication skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Keen to learn and grow within the Landcare sector

Qualifications or experience in environmental management, conservation, natural resource management, project management or a related field will be highly regarded, but attitude and enthusiasm are just as important.

A current driver’s licence is essential.

What PCL Offers

  • Meaningful work that delivers real environmental outcomes
  • A supportive, passionate and highly skilled team
  • Diverse projects across some of the region’s most beautiful landscapes
  • Opportunities for training and professional development
  • A role where your work genuinely matters
