Subcontractor Opportunity – Project Splicing Coordinator

Nepean Belting | Mackay & Bowen Basin Projects

Nepean Belting is seeking an experienced Project Splicing Coordinator to support upcoming conveyor belt splicing projects across the Mackay region and Bowen Basin. This is a hands-on subcontractor role, suited to an experienced splicer who is comfortable leading from the front and working on the tools while coordinating site activities.

About the Role

This role requires a strong on-site presence and active involvement in splicing works. You will be responsible for coordinating projects while also stepping in on the tools as required, providing practical leadership and ensuring safe, high-quality delivery of conveyor belt splicing works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and actively participate in conveyor belt splicing projects

  • Lead splicing crews on site, including hands-on splicing work as required

  • Act as the primary point of contact with clients and site representatives

  • Plan labour, equipment, and materials for splicing works

  • Ensure compliance with site safety, quality, and environmental requirements

  • Monitor progress, manage risks, and resolve issues on site

  • Complete project reporting and handover documentation

About You

  • Proven hands-on experience in conveyor belt splicing, ideally in underground coal

  • Demonstrated experience leading or supervising splicing crews

  • Comfortable working on the tools and leading by example

  • Strong understanding of splicing standards, QA requirements, and site systems

  • Practical, solutions-focused leader with strong communication skills

Required / Preferred Certifications & Clearances

  • S1, S2 and S3 Supervisor Certificates (preferred)

  • G2 – Carry Out the Risk Management Process (highly desirable)

  • Relevant splicing qualifications (Level 2 or Level 3 preferred)

  • Current Coal Board Medical or willing to obtain

  • Standard 11 with Underground (UG) component completed within the last 5 years, or willingness to refresh

  • Current driver’s licence

  • ABN and ability to operate as a subcontractor
