About the roleMaintain a safe, positive and enthusiastic workplace cultureEnsure the machine shop and workshop equipment is maintained in a clean and efficient mannerOversee the coordination and scheduling of projects to ensure all deliverables are met on time, while managing resources effectively to maintain project timelines Interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specificationsSet up, program, and operate CNC machines (milling and/or turning) including select tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters to optimise performanceSupport and assist with all quality-related requirements, ensuring that products meet client specifications and compliance standards, including but not limited to ensuring work is completed to tight tolerances, on time, and to high quality standardsAct as a mentor and leader to the workshop team by providing training, support, and professional development opportunities. Promote a culture of continuous learning and growth among staff

Skills and experienceEssential RequirementsExtensive experience as a machinist in a precision engineering environmentProven CNC programming and operating experience (e.g. Fanuc or similar)Interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specificationsAbility to work independently and make sound technical decisionsHigh attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Desirable SkillsCAD/CAM experienceExperience in low-volume, high-precision or complex componentsFitting experienceExperience with onsite machiningrints, and solid knowledge of precision measuring tools.Experience in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing machining equipment.Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with high accuracy and precision.Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with others to ensure timely production.Familiarity with safety practices and adherence to workplace safety standards.Formal training such as a certificate or diploma in a relevant machining or manufacturing field is an advantage.Possessing a forklift license or similar operational certification would be a benefit.
