About the role:

An excellent opportunity currently exists for a QA Officer to join the Cordina hatchery team at Somersby. The incumbent will be required to work on day shift.

Responsibilities of this position include:

Reporting to the Hatchery Manager, the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Monitor performance of hygiene, GMP, food safety and plant standards on a continuous basis and provide corrective feedback where required.

  • Verify production output meets Specifications. Egg/Chick quality

  • Confirm all raw ingredient materials and packaging materials against specifications.?

  • Complete QA testing. Egg grading, weight loss, incubation profile, chick quality and breakout

  • Collect and record data according to HACCP and Quality System

  • Conduct quality audits in a methodical and detailed manner to verify that the organizations' food safety program is complied with at all times animal welfare?

  • Assisting in managing customer complaints including investigation

  • Ensure internal audit follow-ups to non-conformances and assist with action plans as required

  • Biosecurity management

  • Egg management and incubation

  • Hatchery operations and chick quality

  • Sanitation and hygiene

  • Data analysis, record keeping and traceability

  • Compliance, audits and training

  • Animal welfare

  • Vaccination

To be successful in this position you must possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in quality management or similar is preferred.

  • Previous poultry or hatchery experience preferred

  • Internal Audit experience

  • Self-Motivated and a Quick Learner

  • Team Player, with the ability to work unsupervised

  • Attention to detail

  • Mature minded

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Advanced MS Office skills
