Josiah College is seeking an exceptional Senior School Teacher to join our amazing community on a part-time basis, teaching English and Humanities 3 days per week from January to December 2026.

Josiah is a multi-denominational Christian school in Carrara, Gold Coast, that nurtures, inspires and enables students to flourish. Our Autism-friendly setting provides the framework for students on the Autism Spectrum to access the Australian Curriculum with unique support and individualised learning programs.
Our Josiah Compass guides and informs all areas of our practice to underpin our values and our pastoral care. We strive to provide the opportunity for social, educational and vocational pathways for students on the Autism Spectrum. The learning for these students will be delivered primarily in a specialist setting on campus, with the opportunity to access the community and vocational training centres over the course of the senior years. Senior students work towards achieving a QCE upon graduation.
Our staff work together to assist our students in achieving success. This involves building strong respectful relationships with students while utilising behaviour management techniques to maintain the expectations of the classroom. It also involves working closely with educational assistants and utilising their abilities in the classroom to support the students.

Secondary Teacher – English and Humanities

We are looking for a self-motivated and engaged individual to support our Secondary School, teaching English and Humanities predominantly in Years 8-10.
The candidate requires: current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers. Experience in teaching English and Humanities is also required.
The role will be Part Time, 3 days per week (0.6FTE), Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with a one-year contract for 2026.

Position Description
Position Overview
The purpose of this role is to deliver engaging, individualised learning programs that support students on the autism spectrum to grow academically, socially, and spiritually within a Christ-centred environment.
Grounded in the belief that every student is uniquely created in the image of God, the teacher designs and implements differentiated programs in English and Humanities that nurture communication skills, critical thinking, creativity, and an understanding of the world and their place within it.
Working collaboratively with colleagues, families, and allied health professionals, the teacher fosters a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment where students are encouraged to achieve personal success, develop confidence, and experience the joy of learning.
In this role, you will:
• Develop, plan, implement and evaluate curriculum and teaching plans, with lessons designed to meet the differentiated learning needs of the students
• Utilise your behaviour management experience to provide a safe and respectful learning environment for students on the autism spectrum
• Provide engaging and differentiated lessons that support both learning and sensory needs
• Work in a team of educators that are passionate about their role in the lives of these students
Accountability & Reporting Lines
This position reports directly to the Dean of Senior Years, the Head of Josiah College and ultimately to the Principal.
Occupational Requirements & Qualifications
The successful applicant must have:
• Current QCT Registration
• Meet the requirements of the QCT and AITSL Standards
• Experience teaching English and Humanities subjects in a Senior School setting.
• A demonstrated capacity to differentiate teaching and learning to support students with varying abilities and learning profiles.

The successful applicant must:
- Have an understanding of the philosophy of Christian Education and ability to translate it into practice in the classroom, playground, office and staffroom.
- High level of inter-relational skills, including communication skills and ability to motivate and inspire students, develop good working relations with parents and work as a member of a team.
- Have demonstrated experience in working with students with diverse learning needs, including those on the autism spectrum.
- Demonstrate an understanding of current educational trends.
- Ability to plan (and regularly evaluate) an interesting, sequential, developmental and enjoyable teaching program.
- Exhibit diligence and commitment to all aspects of employment including areas such as professional presentation and behaviour, observing confidentiality expectations, approach to and completion of tasks within required timeframes.
- Be competent in the use of Microsoft Office products, together with any other software, hardware and technology in common use throughout the College.
- Commitment to ongoing personal growth and development and a willingness to learn, including in areas of information technology.
- Be familiar with and meet expectation of all College policies including Work Health & Safety, Employment Policy, Child Protection Policy etc published on the College intranet.
