The Role
We are seeking a reliable and compassionate support worker located in Balnarring to support participants with experience in the mental health sector and Alzheimer’s/dementia care.
Supports Required:
- Household tasks (cooking, cleaning, domestic maintenance)
- Transport to appointments, shopping, errands, and community activities
- Coffee outings and companionship
- Journaling and therapy-based activities
- Routine building and structure
Participant Goals:
- Improve physical health and independence
- Resume cooking and regular routines
Participant Requirements (must strictly meet all):
- Male or Female Support Worker
- Fluent English
- Mature, patient personality - supportive but not intrusive
- Experience with Alzheimer's and Dementia care
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with household and daily living activities
- Transport participant safely to community activities and appointments
- Support participant with therapy-based activities, journaling, and routine building
- Encourage independence while providing safe oversight
- Maintain accurate shift notes and follow NDIS requirements
Work Hours:
- Approx. 10 hours per week
- Preferred daily schedule: 11:00am - 3:00pm
- Flexible weekdays within these hours
- Meet & greet shifts prior
- Ongoing roster to commence officially
Remuneration
- A$35.00 – A$38.00 per hour (+ Superannuation)
- Paid fortnightly
- Travel allowance available if required
- Rates will be competitive and based on experience and qualifications, in line with industry standards (+ Superannuation). Specific rates will be discussed with successful applicants.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must meet all participant preferences (see above)
- Relevant experience in disability, ABI, aged care, or individual support
- Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, or similar (highly regarded)
- Current Working with Children Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Valid First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009)
- National Police Check (within last 12 months)
- Full Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle
- Must have the right to work in Australia
- Ability to foster a positive, trusting connection with participant and family
