Cairns Funeral Directors is a family-owned business that proudly serves the greater  Far North Queensland area.  

We are expanding our team and are seeking a compassionate, reliable person to  join our team on a casual basis. No previous experience is required, just a genuine  desire to support families during their time of need. From day one, you will receive  full training to help you develop the skills needed to deliver a first-class funeral  service. We also offer a competitive salary. 

As a team member, you will assist with both funeral services and the care of the  deceased. Working within a close-knit team, you will play an important role in  ensuring our families receive seamless, respectful and professional care. We  welcome applications from those new to the industry, as well as experienced funeral  professionals. No two days are the same. 

Key responsibilities: 

Welcome applicants, establish their needs and recommend appropriate products  and services 

Be available to respond to requests from applicants and members of the public - Offer the full range of products and services available - Adopt a sensitive and compassionate approach when handling enquiries relating  

To funeral products and services, ensuring expectations are managed  appropriately 

Collect all necessary information required to progress each enquiry - Ensure all systems are updated in a timely manner and liaise closely with  logistics and wider funeral teams when arranging services - Collect the deceased from a range of locations and situations in a professional,  empathetic and dignified manner 

Assist with funeral services, including bearing coffins and driving funeral vehicles in a considerate and professional manner 

Prepare coffins and engrave name plates in line with applicant requirements- Prepare the deceased in our care for viewings and services - Maintain cleanliness of equipment and facilities, including ceremonial vehicles,  lawns, gardens and grounds 

What you’ll bring to the role: 

A genuine desire to support people during difficult times - A professional, caring approach to client and customer service -The ability to follow instructions precisely, with strong attention to detail A proactive approach and the initiative to support clients and your team in any  situation

A professional presentation 

The ability to remain calm and compassionate in emotional situations An open mind when working around and coming into contact with the  deceased, both prepared and unprepared 

The ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including manual  lifting 

A current driver’s licence 

Availability to assist with Long-Haul transfers of deceased 

Availability to participate in a rotating after hours on call roster, this will be a  non-negotiable requirement of the position
