THE ROLE

The Personal Hardship Assistance Program Officer (Program Officer) is responsible for managing end-to-end applications for financial assistance (re-establishment) to eligible people in accordance with the Personal Hardship Program Guidelines (“the guidelines”). This includes assessing and administering payments (re-establishment) in a professional and sensitive manner, providing advice to applicants in relation to Personal Hardship Program eligibility requirements. This assessment must conduct in accordance with the guidelines, and the Program Officer needs to provide information to applicants relating to other recovery services that are available. If required, this may also include the Program Officer accessing the department's interpreting service to ensure financial assistance is provided in a culturally responsive and equitable way.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

  • Be responsible for the management of end-to-end applications for financial assistance (re-establishment) to eligible people in accordance with the Personal Hardship Program Guidelines (“the guidelines”).
  • Provide or contribute to authoritative and expert advice and recommendations consistent with organisational goals and values.
  • Manage, interpret and apply business plans and policies in own area of responsibility and provides advice to others on design and implementation issues.
