About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Quarry Manager to lead quarry development and oversee daily operations. This role is responsible for operational performance, safety leadership, stakeholder engagement, sales and operations planning, and workforce management. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong commercial acumen, proven leadership capability, and a commitment to safety, excellence, and continuous improvement.

This position plays a critical role in achieving operational targets while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and fostering a high-performance, values-driven culture.

Key Responsibilities

Provide effective and consistent leadership through clear communication and workforce engagementEngage the workforce in site requirements and operational plans, using influencing skills to achieve desired outcomesLead and manage stakeholder engagement activities, including residents and regulatory authoritiesCollaborate in Sales and Operations Planning and build strong working relationships with Quarry Account ManagersRole model company values and lead by exampleEnsure SOPs are developed, reviewed, updated, communicated, and adhered to across the siteEnsure all team members are trained and capable of identifying and resolving hazards and operational issuesTake full ownership of safety outcomes, incident resolution, and implementation of corrective actionsConduct regular (fortnightly) safety interaction visits and actively encourage site presence by leadersManage people, plant, and equipment to achieve production, sales, and profitability targetsMonitor site performance against weekly and monthly KPIs and implement corrective actions as requiredProject manage and deliver operational and business improvement initiativesOptimise cost of production through effective process design, raw material utilisation, and waste minimisationIdentify improvement opportunities and convert ideas into practical operational outcomesActively involve the team in monitoring and improving key performance indicatorsPromote and coach Lean problem-solving methodologies (PDCA, 5 Why, etc.)Support continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, cost, and delivery

Essential Skills, Qualifications And Experience

SSE 20+ (Essential)Degree in Engineering, Production Process or related discipline (preferred)Minimum 5 years experience in mining or quarrying operationsStrong knowledge of the Mining & Quarrying Safety & Health Act and RegulationsExtensive experience in hard rock quarrying and crushing processesProven leadership experience within quarrying or mining operationsDemonstrated ability to understand P&L, manage budgets, and control costsExperience in maintenance, cost control, business improvement, OH&S, environmental management, and industrial relationsExperience in LEAN Manufacturing methodologies highly regardedStrong financial, commercial, and project-level acumenExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to work independently, prioritise competing deadlines, and deliver resultsHigh standard of internal customer focus and personal accountability
