About The Role

Based in Queanbeyan, this is a part time opportunity (26 hours per week), fixed term until 30th June 2027 with the possibility of extension. Hours and days are negotiable.

The Support Worker, AOD will work within the AOD team to provide open, appropriate and effective support to consumers to improve outcomes and reduce harm associated with drug and alcohol use.

Duties

Support consumers to build decision-making, social skills, independence, healthy habits, and resiliencePromote community access, participation, and positive self-identityWork alongside consumers to achieve personal recovery goalsCollaborate with housing, mental health, AOD services, families, and carersDeliver practical, person-centred, recovery-focused supportContribute to holistic care that improves quality of life outcomes

Skills & Experience

Qualification (or currently studying) a qualification in mental health, health or community/social services discipline (minimum Certificate IV), and/or Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drug Work or equivalent, or willingness to obtainDemonstrated experience in working with people who live with AOD difficultiesDemonstrated commitment to working from a recovery orientation, in line with the National Framework for Recovery Oriented Mental Health ServicesKnowledge and understanding of the principles of harm minimisation and recovery focused support gained through education and/or training
