The Opportunity
The Rostering Officer will be responsible for supporting Ave Maria’s staff resources, by managing all rostering activities for Ave Maria’s 200+ disability support workers, across 2 regions. Joining a current Rostering Officer and reporting to the Rostering and Workforce Manager, you will support in planning and rostering appropriate supports including SIL/SDA Accommodation shifts, Community Access, support for irregular appointments and staff training.
The Rostering Officer will deliver effective rostering practices, demonstrating skills to enhance Ave Maria’s participant and staff experience and plays a pivotal role in delivering Ave Maria’s mission & vision by reinforcing the values of Ave Maria and contributing to a positive organisational culture.
Your Responsibilities;
- Develop, implement and manage staff rosters, ensuring they are set up with consideration to consistency, efficiency, fairness, and maintaining support workers contract hours
- Effectively cover vacant shifts for absence, being mindful of staff knowledge and training, overtime, required break periods and award compliance
- Publish vacant shifts, communicate with the workforce and allocate shifts in a fair and consistent manner
- Work with the management team to develop knowledge of our participants and their require supports
About You;
- With an excellent customer focus, attention to detail and a positive attitude, you will have;
- Demonstrated experience in rostering high volumes. Experience in the NDIS sector and under the SCHADS award is highly beneficial
- Strong computer literacy skills including the ability to work across multiple platforms, manage spreadsheets, emails and systems with good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Teams
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to support staff in high stress situations, show empathy and ask the right questions to resolve situations promptly and professionally
- Highly developed problem-solving skills with the ability to think laterally, especially related to shift or roster allocation scenarios
- Knowledge of the disability sector, in particular how the NDIS works and how NDIS funds can be utilised to ensure shifts are rostered accordingly
Experience within the disability sector or in a direct health or care setting would be an advantage, with an understanding of physical and psychosocial disabilities highly beneficial
