Aboriginal Practice Lead - The Orange Door

About the Role

This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified position and a meaningful opportunity for an experienced Aboriginal practitioner to provide practice leadership within The Orange Door (TOD) in Mildura.The Aboriginal Practice Lead plays a key role in strengthening culturally safe, trauma-informed and Aboriginal-led practice across The Orange Door workforce. You will support staff working with Aboriginal children, families and communities impacted by family violence, child protection concerns and complex needs.This role is about walking alongside practitioners, sharing cultural knowledge, and helping embed Aboriginal ways of knowing, being and doing into everyday practice

Key Responsibilities

Provide cultural and practice leadership to The Orange Door workforceSupport culturally safe responses across family violence, child and family services, and perpetrator interventionsOffer secondary consultations to internal staff and external partner servicesStrengthen workforce cultural safety, confidence and accountabilitySupport non-Aboriginal practitioners to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal familiesBuild and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal communities and servicesAdvocate for Aboriginal voices, self-determination and culturally safe systems within TOD

About You

You are an Aboriginal person with strong community connections and experience working in:Family violence, child and family services, and/or perpetrator interventionsPractice leadership, mentoring or coaching rolesAboriginal community-controlled or mainstream service settingsYou bring cultural authority, confidence and care to your work, and are comfortable supporting others to reflect, learn and grow in culturally safe practice ️
