Parliamentary Services is seeking a casual digitally savvy Assistant Electorate Officer to support Mr Adam Baillie, Member for Townsville. This fast-paced role involves creating engaging social media content, drafting communications, engaging with constituents and community groups, and providing high-level administrative support. Mr Adam Baillie MP, Member for Townsville is seeking a motivated and digital savvy casual Assistant Electorate Officer to attend community events and create high-quality media content that builds connection, visibility and engagement across all media platforms.

Key Objectives

Attend community events, usually out of business hours and on weekends, to capture and post in real time, content for all media platforms, including hard print and socials.Create and deliver content that highlights key priorities, initiatives and community impact.Foster strong relationships by supporting and engaging with constituents and community groups in person or online.Provide general administration tasks as directed.

Your Role

Support the Electorate Officer with media enquiries, constituent enquiries and stakeholder engagement.Support the implementation of strategic communication activities.Work with the Electorate Officer to identify media opportunities and schedule proactive placements.Draft and edit media releases, newsletters, opinion pieces, and other publications.Manage social media platforms, ensuring timely and engaging updates.Support electorate events and activities, providing on-the-ground assistance as needed.Undertake additional duties as directed by the Member.

What We're Looking For

Able to work evening, weekends and public holidays, depending on event schedules.Strong written and verbal communication skills with a knack for storytelling.Experience in social media management, videography, photography, and graphic design.Professional, discreet, and capable of maintaining confidentiality.Knowledge of Queensland's parliamentary processes and political landscape is advantageous but not essential.
