About the Role:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be the cornerstone of our engineering projects, enhancing our plant's performance, reliability, and safety. Your expertise will be crucial in optimising mechanical systems and providing the engineering backbone for the Primary Smelter.

Reporting to the Superintendent Mechanical Maintenance, this is a residential role based in Port Pirie, South Australia on a 5/2 roster. Relocation support will be provided if required.

Key Responsibilities:

Spearhead mechanical engineering projects from feasibility studies to commissioningOptimize the efficiency and reliability of mechanical systemsOffer technical support for troubleshooting and maintenanceUphold compliance with mechanical standards and foster a safety-first cultureProvide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineersEngage with cross-functional teams to support plant initiativesDocument and report engineering processes, and prepare comprehensive Scopes of Work

About You

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent5+ years experience in mechanical engineering within heavy industryExperience in pyrometallurgy plant highly regardedDeep understanding of mechanical systems such as pumps, conveyors, pressurized systems and cranesExpertise in AutoCAD Mechanical and other mechanical design softwareKnowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirementsProven capability in managing end-to-end mechanical engineering projectsExceptional problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making prowessStrong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering and Metallurgical team
