We’re currently seeking an experienced and strategic finance leader to join our team in the Financial and Business Services Directorate as Manager, Treasury and Corporate Finance.
Full-time, continuing positionLocated at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, DouglasHEWL 10A: $139,137 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an opportunity to drive best-practice financial management as you provide high-level leadership across treasury, financial reporting, taxation, asset accounting, and controlled entity financial management, ensuring strong governance, compliance, and financial integrity.
You will oversee the University’s statutory reporting and audit processes, manage cash, debt, and investment portfolios, and lead internal controls and risk mitigation initiatives. A key focus of the role is driving operational efficiency, optimising asset management, and enabling informed financial decision-making. You will also lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of service, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful, you will hold postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field and current membership with a recognised accounting body (CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants ANZ). You will bring proven experience leading complex financial functions in large organisations, with strong knowledge of financial governance, risk, compliance, and policy development. Exceptional interpersonal skills, a record of leading change, and the ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders are essential.

The Financial and Business Services Directorate is responsible for a diverse range of the University’s financial functions and business services, including: strategic financial and budgeting advice; business case development and review; management accounting; Treasury Management; budgeting; procurement; accounts payable; corporate credit cards; accounts receivable; cashiering/banking; taxation; assets; insurance; financial systems management; and other statutory compliance obligations and responsibilities.
