The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a creative and engaging individual to actively prepare a range of materials that promote the operations and engagement activities of Council through various internal and external communication mediums.

As a Communication Officer, you will lead the development of a range of communication materials that proactively and retrospectively support the work being done across the organisation and prepare written material for newsletters, media releases, social media and other promotional content. You will proactively work with all sections of Council to identify stories and activities, follow up media enquiries, and provide photography, videography and design support to enhance Council’s communication and engagement activities.

About You

We are seeking an individual who holds a degree-level qualification in communication, public relations, journalism or related discipline, and has highly developed writing, content creation and editing skills for a range of formats.

You will have the following skills and experience;

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing communication strategies for diverse audiences.
  • Proficient digital communication skills including use of social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Youtube).
  • Photography, video and design skills suitable for publication.
  • Experience working in the communications/marketing industry.

Benefits

This is a permanent, full time position working 35 hours per week.

The total remuneration package for this position commences at $95,484.48 gross per annum, comprising of:

  • $1,639.50 per week base salary
  • $196.74 per week superannuation (calculated at 12%)
