About The Service

The Cessnock Pharmacotherapy Team is a small, dynamic team located on the grounds of Cessnock Hospital. Our team provides outpatient assessment, treatment, and ongoing support for individuals seeking assistance with substance use. We work closely within a multidisciplinary framework, supporting clients on opioid substitution treatment and delivering holistic care that addresses the physical, emotional, and social aspects of each person’s journey.

About The Role

As a Registered Nurse in the Cessnock Pharmacotherapy Clinic, you will provide direct care and support to clients in a community setting. You will be involved in assessment, treatment planning, and ongoing monitoring, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and person-centred care.

The clinic operates Monday to Friday, 7:30am–4:00pm, with optional reduced hours on weekends and public holidays. This role offers a high level of autonomy and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of clients and the broader community.

You won't be alone in this role! You will be supported by the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), the Cessnock Pharmacotherapy Team, and other multidisciplinary professionals, including the Drug & Alcohol Clinical Services (DACS) Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE). Professional development, clinical supervision, and regular education sessions are encouraged and supported to help you grow in your career.

Have current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRAAre experienced in Drug & Alcohol nursing, or have a strong interest in developing in this specialtyCan work effectively within a multidisciplinary teamDemonstrate empathy, professionalism, and excellent communication skillsEnjoy providing meaningful support that has a positive impact at a community level
