CatholicCare Tasmania’s Multicultural Programs (MP) are funded by both Federal and State Governments to provide services to people from refugee and migrant backgrounds in Tasmania. We are seeking a Multicultural Programs Employment Facilitator to support the employment needs of individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. The ideal candidate will have experience working with multicultural communities and possess strong communication and organisational skills.
The role of Employment Facilitator in the Multicultural Employment Services Program is to deliver the State funded Multicultural Employment Services Program in Tasmania. Facilitators in MES provide employment, training and education advice and pathways to people from migrant and refugee background who are experiencing barriers to gaining employment in Tasmania. Employment Facilitators are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating MES, as well as contributing to other programs across MP, and activities and projects as required. Facilitators are based regionally in Hobart and Launceston and work collaboratively with their colleagues across the state to implement a cohesive and successful program statewide. As such, Facilitators may be required to undertake statewide travel on occasion to achieve program objectives, meet client needs, and to participate in training, meetings and events.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualifications or demonstrated experience in the areas of either Training & Assessment, Career Coaching & Development, Social Work, or other relevant fields is desirable.
- National Police Criminal History Check: Satisfactory police check, to be completed on a 3-yearly basis from commencement. Crimes involving violence, aggression, drugs, fraud, dishonesty, and excessive motor vehicle-related offenses would be cause for discontinuance of employment.
- Working with Vulnerable People registration: Must maintain current and valid Working with Vulnerable People registration; and must carry evidence of this at all times.
- Drivers Licence: Maintaining a current driver's licence is a requirement of this role.
- Statewide Travel: Statewide travel several times a year is a requirement of this role, using a company vehicle

2.Experience in networking, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement, with an aptitude for developing professional relationships to enhance program and individual outcomes
3.Demonstrated understanding of the needs for people who face barriers related to their cultural diversity in accessing employment and other mainstream services, and ability to respond sensitively and proactively to support them
4.Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in multicultural employment and confidence to provide accurate pathway advice leading to positive job outcomes for clients
5.Demonstrated capacity to respond well to change in a busy environment, while managing the priorities of client work, administrative responsibilities and other internal and external program demands.
6.Ability to communicate effectively and responsively with individuals from diverse backgrounds for the purposes of undertaking needs assessments, developing pathway plans and delivering training to group
7.Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently, with strong discipline and self-motivation despite being geographically separated from others in the team.
