Founded in 2019, Ridge View Secondary College (SC) is a state-of-the-art independent public school, located 45 km south of Perth in the suburb of Baldivis. As a growing school catering to Years 7-12, we are dedicated to fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and student wellbeing. Guided by our motto—Believe, Aspire, Pride—we empower students to develop confidence, set ambitious goals, and take pride in their achievements. Our values of I Can Be a Champion, We All Matter, and We Are Family reinforce our commitment to inclusivity, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging within our college community.
With recent Stage 2 upgrades increasing our capacity to 1,450 students, Ridge View SC offers cutting-edge facilities, including a performing arts theatre, an auditorium, commercial kitchen, and specialist classrooms for drama, dance, music, visual art, and media. These enhancements provide students with diverse opportunities to explore their potential and celebrate success. We are seeking a passionate college leader who shares our vision and is eager to inspire and support our students and staff in a dynamic and thriving learning environment.
The Role
Ridge View SC is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic, and collaborative Teacher in charge of Music to lead and grow our music program. This permanent full-time role includes 0.2 FTE to coordinate our IMSS (Instrumental Music School Services) program while also guiding a wide range of exciting arts events, competitions, and performances across the school and community. The successful applicant would continue to build on the strong foundations of our established Specialist Music program.
As Teacher in charge of Music, you would play a key role in teaching both Specialist and General Music classes from Years 7 to 10, engaging students of all abilities and instilling in them a lifelong appreciation for music. You would support and mentor students through instrumental lessons, ensemble work, and performance opportunities, and you would lead the organisation of semesterly concerts, Arts showcases, and community events that highlight student achievement. Working closely with IMSS staff, Arts colleagues, and other learning areas, you will also have the opportunity to plan cross-curricular projects that extend and enrich student learning across the college
The Arts department at Ridge View SC is highly motivated, collaborative, and committed to delivering high-quality, engaging programs. The Music program is supported by outstanding facilities, including four rehearsal rooms, two dedicated music classrooms equipped with instruments, and a Performing Arts Theatre designed to bring performances to life. With access to the latest technology, you will have the tools you need to deliver innovative and inspiring programs that capture the imagination of your students.
We are looking for a passionate secondary Music educator with strong leadership skills and the drive to inspire the next generation of musicians. You will ideally bring a deep knowledge of contemporary and general music, along with expertise in performance and ensemble preparation. You will have the ability to connect with students at all levels, excellent communication and organisational skills to manage programs and events, and the collaborative spirit to work effectively with staff across the Arts learning area. Most importantly, you should be someone who can articulate a clear vision for the place of Music in our college and who is committed to fostering student wellbeing, confidence, and success.
