About the
Role
Irrigation Plumbers
provide support to the maintenance activities of assets within
Townsville City Council Parks and Open Spaces. You will have the
chance to work within the Southern Hemisphere’s largest
reticulation network and its automated control system. No two days
are the same. You will be required to carry out plumbing and
irrigation work that encompasses:
- Auditing and
checking for faults - Repair of
faults and damaged irrigation & plumbing
components - Replacing and
upgrading of irrigation & plumbing components - Completing
preventative maintenance activities - Undertaking
backflow installation, maintenance and testing
About
You
Our
ideal candidate will have:
- Plumbers and
Drainage Licence in accordance with the Queensland Plumbing and
Drainage Act 2002, including Backflow Prevention
Certificate. - Experience in
plumbing activities in line with AS/NZS 3500.12:1998;
procedures for system shut down and commissioning; plumbing
repairs to potable water systems including water service mains,
taps, external showers, and drinking fountains. - Experience of
irrigation systems and activities – problem solving low
voltage wiring, hydro meters, solenoids, valves and flow rates;
park irrigation specifications; plumbing repairs to non-potable
irrigation water mains and lateral lines and an understanding
of plant species watering requirements. - Current Manual
"C" class driver’s licence. - Construction
Industry White Card (30215 QLD) - First
Aid/CCPR/Emergency Life Support Certificate (or ability to
obtain) - Traffic
Management Implementation (TMI) certified under the Manual of
Uniform Traffic Control Devices (Part 3, 2016) (or ability to
obtain)
Desirable
- Sound knowledge
of operational procedures applicable to irrigation maintenance,
particularly related to the provision of services in public
parks and open spaces. - Knowledge
and/or experience of IRRInet irrigation controller
systems. - Ability to
operate computerised equipment (e.g. Microsoft office, mobile
phone, tablet, personal computer, mobility applications, data
loggers, GPS, etc.). - Sound problem
solving skills with the ability to achieve creative, effective
and efficient solutions to challenges and changes. - Effective time
and workload management skills and the ability to prioritise
tasks. - Demonstrated
ability to work independently and as part of a team to obtain
team objectives.
