Position Information

Colo High School is a proud, comprehensive high school. It has an outstanding record of achievement in academic, sporting and cultural pursuits. The school community is situated in the semi-rural Hawkesbury area, approximately 20 minutes from Penrith and was established in 1978. In 2025, there are approximately 818 students including 84 students who identify as Aboriginal.

General Selection Criteria

  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Specific Selection Criteria

  • Proven expertise in initiating, implementing and overseeing whole school administration roles, including managing daily organisation of staff cover, navigating the complexities of last-minute changes and variations to routine, employing casual staff and developing and implementing rosters and schedules.
  • Demonstrated evidence of high-quality organisational skills and the ability to support equitable resourcing to support teaching and learning at an administrative level in applications such as Edval, Edval Daily, NESA Schools Online, School Bytes, and Sentral.
  • Recognised leadership managing the school timetable team, overseeing the subject selection process, addressing whole-school curriculum requirements and applying a thorough understanding of school staffing processes, including financial accountability.
  • Validated capacity to actively contribute to the executive team by participating in strategic school planning, decision-making processes and the development and implementation of initiatives that support the school’s vision and goals.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
