Covering a 12 month period of parental leave commencing December 2025, the Acting Procurement Advisor will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will be a technical and highly organised and skilled professional who instigates and maintains effective internal and external relationships.
Based at Mallala, the Acting Procurement Advisor will oversee and maintain Council’s procurement and contract management functions, and provide support and advice to the organisation to ensure business objectives are achieved.
Key responsibilities will include:

Establish the direction of the procurement function to meet the business needs and ensure implementation across the organisation;

Embed a strategic and forward-thinking approach to procurement planning and collaborating with teams across the Council to align objectives and achieve procurement outcomes;

Coordinate the preparation of tenders, managing the tender process and contract negotiations for major projects, capital renewal programs, and contracts for the delivery of Council's services;

Develop supplier relationships to achieve mutually beneficial partnerships and procurement outcomes;

Analyse supplier contracts, expenditure and performance, and monitoring supply chain risks to identify opportunities to drive added value for Council;

Manage the development of the procurement function, including the implementation of new systems and processes to enhance efficiency;

Drive continuous improvement and change in procurement policy, processes and practices to deliver better outcomes for the organisation.
Who we are looking for:
The successful candidate will have proven experience in a similar role (preferably in local government), will be highly organised, proactive and possess highly developed skills to undertake Council’s core procurement functions.
A tertiary qualification in Law, Business, Accounting, Procurement or significant related experience, expertise and competence that is sufficient to undertake the role will be essential. A National Police Clearance and Australian Drivers Licence (class C) will be essential.
