Wellbeing Triage / First Aide Support
TIME FRACTION: 25 hours over 5 days/week – set work pattern roster

PRIMARY PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
The Wellbeing Triage/First Aide position fulfils an important public relations and customer service function by being one of the first points of contact that students, parents, staff and the public have with the College through the Wellbeing & Sick Bay centers.
It is expected this position will be competent in the provision of up to date and relevant information. It is important this position operates in a consistent, professional, courteous, efficient manner at all times.
The provision of accurate information is important as it projects a professional image which is the aim of Warrnambool College at all times.
ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS AND IMPACT
The role of the Triage/First Aide support worker is to conduct initial assessments of students requiring level 2 first aid, promptly addressing any physical injuries or medical emergencies that may arise within the school premises. In addition to physical first aid, the worker also conducts preliminary screenings for mental health concerns among students. They engage in conversations to assess students' emotional well-being, identifying any signs of distress or mental health issues that may require intervention. The Triage/First Aid support worker
serves as a frontline responder for both physical and mental health emergencies within the school environment.
The team consists of a Triage/First Aide Officer, Wellbeing Team Leader and experienced Counsellors.
Strong interpersonal skills are essential in effectively communicating with students, staff, families and visitors to the College. The worker fosters a supportive and empathetic environment, making students feel comfortable seeking assistance for both physical, emotional and mental health concerns.
